Marilyn Oermann recently delivered the keynote speech entitled "Evidence-based Teaching in Nursing: What's New and What's Missing" at the University of Maryland Institute for Nurse Educators Conference in Baltimore, MD. 

At the annual in San Franscisco which focuses on informatics research and innovation that facilitates translational research, two DUSON faculty papers were recognized. Hyeoneui Kim's paper entitled "iCONCUR: informed consent for clinical data and bio-sample use for research" and Rachel Richesson's paper entitled "Pragmatic (trial) informatics: a perspective from the NIH Health Care Systems Researach Collaboratory."

​ABSN student Julia Sisson was recently awarded the Lisa Day Scholarship Award in the amount of $1,000 to support the dissemination of her scholarly work entitled "Let's Talk ɫ��ֱ�� Sex -- An Interactive Workshop for Healthcare Providers and Students" at the 2018 SYNChronicity Conference in Arlington, Virginia. The scholarship award was presented to Sisson by Sigma Theta Tau, Beta Epsilon Chapter. 

Congratulations to Tracey Yap, Debra Brandon and Mary Lou Affronti who each recently received an award from the (SNRS) at the 2018 SNRS 32nd annual conference in Atlanta, GA.

Staci Reynolds recently published an article entitled "" in Rehabilitation Nursing. Co-authors include experts from Indiana University, University of Tennessee Knoxville, Indiana University School of Nursing and University of Cincinnati College of Nursing.  Abstract

Nursing Students Without Borders (NSWB) would like to thank the faculty, staff and students who contributed to their Valentine's Day Fundraiser. Candy-grams with lovable characters like the "Hippa" Hippo and beautiful notes hand written by students were purchased by students and faculty. Nearly $600 was raised for Curamericas-Guatemala birthing centers in the remote highlands of Huehuetenango.

The ɫ��ֱ�� University Board of Trustees on Saturday approved plans for constructing a new 102,000-square foot facility that will connect to the ɫ��ֱ�� Christine Siegler Pearson Building. The new building will house ɫ��ֱ��’s School of Nursing, the School of Medicine’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, and Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Construction is scheduled to start this month and be completed in the fall of 2019.

On May 22 from 12-1 p.m. in Pearson 1026, D-CHIPP will be showing the documentary "" that chronicles the formation of the NC Fund, a non-profit organization formed in the 1960's to battle poverty across the state during the tumultuous civil rights era. Founding ɫ��ֱ�� Global Health Institute (DGHI) director Michael Merson, biomedical engineering and global health professor Nimmi Ramanujam and DGHI doctoral certificate candidate Mercy Asiedu received awards at the 9th Annual Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) Conference in New York City this past weekend.
