Deborah (Hutch) Allen, director of nursing research and evidence-based practice, ɫ��ֱ�� University Health System was recently selected to participate in the 2018 (TIDIRC) supported by the National Cancer Institute.

  From Thursday, July 19 through Friday, July 20, the Center for Nursing Research is hosting a Summer Institute: Methods and Analytics for Symptom Science Research to support symptom science researchers and analysts who wish to explore advanced techniques for statistics modeling and data analysis. The two-day workshop will consist of an overview of cutting edge analytical techniques to explore symptom prevalence, severity and changes across time.

PhD student Zhao Ni was recently awarded the ɫ��ֱ�� Global Health Doctoral Certificate Fieldwork Grant in the amount of $5,000 to support his research on cardiovascular disease and mHealth. The Global Health Doctoral Certificate provides an opportunity for doctoral students from across ɫ��ֱ�� to engage in the field of global health through a combination of coursework, a research-related field experience and engagement with peers and faculty. 

DNP and MSN alumna Crystal Tillman will be the commencement speaker for the College of Pharmacy & Health Science’s 2018 spring ceremony at Campbell University.  “We are honored to have Dr. Tillman as our commencement speaker,” said Dean Michael L. Adams (PharmD ’96). “She has a clinical, educational and administrative background to pull from when addressing our graduates and guests. We look forward to welcoming her to campus.”

On Friday, June 8, Ann Brown and Cathie Siders will be presenting "Kerfuffles, Conflicts and Misunderstandings: Strategies for Engagement" from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. in The Great Hall of the Trent Semans Center. This interactive session starts with the premise that the capacity to engage skillfully in challenging conversations is a vital component of leadership. Kerfuffles, conflicts and misunderstandings are every day occurrences. Unresolved, they cultivate resentment and stymy organizational progress- particularly where change is occurring.

In qualitative research, in-depth interviews can be an immensely helpful investigative tool. However, the nuances of one-on-one interviewing can sometimes make it difficult to obtain useful results. ()
