- March 6, 2018Cyber Security is predominant in the headlines these days. With recent data breaches and the increase of hackers worldwide, it is essential to take measures to protect your phone and laptop whether traveling abroad or while at home. One simple way to protect yourself is to use a virtual private network (VPN) when connecting to the internet and using your devices. Doing so will secure and encrypt your communications and data which is particularly important when tapping into public networks.
 - March 2, 2018Congratulations to Ryan Shaw and his entire team with the Health Innovation Lab who received an award from the É«½äÖ±²¥ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative, É«½äÖ±²¥ Incubation Fund application entitled "Line Snugglers, Evaluation in Adult Critical Care Populations." The project has been awarded $19,930 for a one-year period with a start date of March 1, 2018.
 - March 6, 2018Faculty member, Donna Biederman, clinical instructors, Barb Hotelling and Lee Arvidson and former clinical instructor, Daya Breckenridge, recently attended the Urban Ministries Empty Bowls fundraiser. Empty Bowls is Urban Ministries of Durham’s signature fundraising event where participants sample soups prepared by local chefs, then vote for their favorite. Nearly 1,000 people attended the event that raised over $100,000. Urban Ministries of Durham assists 6,000 people in Durham each year with emergency shelter and food.

During the reception, they will also have poster presentations to highlight research activities and current projects from DUSON chapter members and DANCE affiliates.  - February 26, 2018Many pediatric patients receiving care in primary care settings have mental health concerns that are difficult for primary care providers to diagnose and manage. It’s estimated that one in seven youth in the United States suffer from a behavioral concern or mental illness and research shows half of all lifetime cases of mental illness will begin by the age of 14. Once a mental illness develops, it may become more difficult to treat.

This proposal requests funding for a one-year period with a start date of June 1, 2018.
