    On June 13-14, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., The UNC School of Social Work, the Jordan Institute for Families and the Frank Porter Graham will host a two-day Summer Institute. The Summer Institute seeks to provide foundational knowledge of implementation science and to build professional and graduate students鈥 knowledge, skills and strategies for supporting change using implementation best practices.

    Kudos to Sharron Docherty, Gary Maslow and their entire team for the submission of their Multi-PI, NIH R01 application entitled "Peer i-Coaching for Activated Self-management Optimization in Adolescents and Young Adults with Chronic Conditions." This proposal requests funds for a five-year period with a start date of Dec. 1, 2018.

She presented as part of a series entitled "Ram Time" where successful alumni from Greene Central High School come talk and share experiences with students.

    鈥婦USON Student Council, Fusion and Spectrum recently hosted a 鈥淟iving Library鈥 event with the theme 鈥淚dentity.鈥 The Human Library is an international movement designed to foster conversations and reduce bias and stereotypes. The event highlighted the need for continued dialogue on diversity, inclusivity, tolerance and understanding.

    On April 23-25, The Institute of African American Research and NCGrowth are hosting a new multi-disciplinary conference to connect Black communities across North America, scholars and activists! The conference will consist of well over 100 individual events, from panel discussions on community development to tours of Black Durham to environmental working groups to films!

    On Thursday, April 26 from 3:30 until 5 p.m., the Department of Population Health Sciences Research Talks discuss completed studies, works-in-progress, or proposals. This month Drs. Brad Hammill and Nicholas Ballew will be discussing "Physical Activity Leading up to Hospitalization for Heart Failure."  The Research Talk will take place at Erwin Square, room 837.
