    ​DUSON Community Health Improvement Partnership Program (D-CHIPP) recently launched their new website. On their website, users can learn about the goals of D-CHIPP, strategic activities and programs in the community. More features will soon be added including a calendar of events, links to affiliate with D-CHIPP and opportunities for community-based organizations to apply for small grants.

    Kathy Pereira, Victoria Goode and Brett Morgan recently traveled to Durban, South Africa to establish partnerships for global DNP projects. While there, they met with Petra Brysiewicz of the School of Nursing & Public Health, University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa and Mosa Moshabela, dean of the College of Health Sciences, University of KwaZuluNatal in South Africa.

    Kudos to Stephanie Devane-Johnson for the submission of a subcontract proposal on a UNC-CH NIH R21 application entitled "Developing a dashboard to quantify racial disparities in breastfeeding education and support." This proposal requests funding for a two-year period with a start date of Dec. 1, 2018.

    Several members of the DUSON community recently attended the Office of the Provost's Forum on inquiry, expression and community at the University entitled "Testing the University: Speech, Freedom and Civility on College Campuses." The forum took place at Penn Pavillion with the keynote address given by David Brooks in Reynolds Theater.

    Deb Brandon was recently featured in an article entitled "" published on É«½äÖ±²¥ Today. The Samuel Dubois Cook Society was founded in 1997 to honor Cook as well as community members who follow his example of social activism and leadership. The society celebrates and affirms the presence of African-American students, faculty and staff at É«½äÖ±²¥.

    É«½äÖ±²¥ (DUSON) will welcome alumni for the annual Nursing Reunion Weekend from April 12-13. Alumni who graduated in years ending in a 3 or 8 are encouraged to come back to reunite, reminisce and reconnect with classmates. The weekend is full of exciting events from the reunion luncheon hosted by Dean Marion E. Broome with special guest É«½äÖ±²¥ University President Vincent E. Price to the reunion awards and recognition program and even a É«½äÖ±²¥ Chapel Climb (if you reserve your spot early enough).

    Cheryl Rodgers, PhD, RN, CPNP, CPON, associate professor at É«½äÖ±²¥, recently led the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) Evidence-Based Practice Workshop at É«½äÖ±²¥. COG is the world’s largest organization devoted to clinical development of new therapeutics for children and adolescents with cancer. The nursing discipline within COG is focused on setting standards of excellence for the care of children and adolescents with cancer treated on COG clinical trials.
