As part of the Provost's Initiative on the Middle East, 色戒直播 University is hosting five Israeli Jewish, Palestinian and Druze graduate student artists from Givat Haviva, The Center for a Shared Society, for a six-week residency aimed at developing understanding through the creation of artistic works from their unique and shared perspectives.
This showcase at the Rubenstein Arts Center will feature works by each visiting artist, opening on Thursday, September 4.
Formed in 1949, Givat Haviva strives to create a model society in Israel, emphasizing the importance of a Jewish and Arab shared society anchored in principles of mutual respect, trust, pluralism, and intrinsic equality between citizens. The residency from August 16-September 27 involves student-to-student interaction, teaching, art creation, and exhibition both on and off campus, including visits to arts venues and organizations throughout the Triangle.
The Provost's Initiative on the Middle East and the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts organized the residency with support from the Revson Foundation.
