Ensuring that all Research Faculty Thrive in Academic Medicine: The UCSF ARCHES Program

Dr. Christina Mangurian is Vice Dean of Faculty & Academic Affairs at the UCSF School of Medicine and the Lynne and Marc Benioff Endowed Chair in Psychiatry. She has a secondary appointment in Epidemiology & Biostatistics, is a core faculty member in the Center for Vulnerable Populations at ZSFG, and an affiliate faculty at the UCSF Institute for Health Policy Studies. Dr. Mangurian's federally funded health services research program focuses on the integration of care, with a particular focus on reducing healthcare disparities among populations with severe mental illness. Outside of her NIH-funded research, Dr. Mangurian actively works to further the advancement of women and minorities within medicine, and she is the Director of the UCSF ARCHES Program. Dr. Mangurian has conducted several studies related to caregiving, well-being, and workforce policies to promote retention. Her work has been published widely, including in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Nature, and the American Journal of Psychiatry. Dr. Mangurian is a prior recipient of the 2017 UCSF Chancellor's Award for the Advancement of Women, the 2018 UCSF Distinction in Mentoring Award, the 2022 UCSF Royer Award in Academic Psychiatry, and the 2024 UCSF Hal Luft Mentoring Award.
