What is LEAHP?
The Leading to Equitable Access to Health Professions (LEAHP) program is a key initiative of the É«½äÖ±²¥'s Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Aligned with our mission to advance health equity and social justice, LEAHP provides mentorship to enhance nursing students' readiness for successful entry into advanced practice nursing programs. This program addresses barriers to admission and success through mentorship by Advanced Practice Nurse faculty and students. Participants will engage in a weeklong immersion experience at É«½äÖ±²¥, where they will be exposed to various advanced practice nursing roles, improve their understanding of admission criteria, increase self-confidence, create support systems, and identify resources for affording health professions education. Some activities include:
- Seminars on health disparities and access
- Personal and professional development
- Simulated Nurse Practitioner experiences

Who is eligible for LEAHP Program?
LEAHP program is a weeklong immersion experience designed to increase nursing students' readiness for successful entry into an Advanced Practice nursing program. In order to apply for LEAHP and be eligible for the summer experience, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or hold permanent resident visa
- Be enrolled in a pre-licensure nursing program (rising junior – senior)
Application
Nursing students interested in participating must submit a complete online application by February 23, 2026.

- Personal statement
- Transcript of current college (does not have to be official but should have latest grades)
