Congratulations to ɫ��ֱ�� (DUSON) ABSN student, Rose Feinberg who was recently selected as the Fall 2019 ɫ��ֱ�� Scholar! Each summer, the School selects a degree-seeking student from the ABSN, MSN, or DNP program to receive a full-tuition University scholarship. The student is selected by the associate dean for academic affairs with input from ABSN, MSN, and DNP program directors.

As she discovered public health in her undergraduate years, Feinberg was drawn to looking broadly at the factors such as biological, social, political and economic that influence health. She believes that population-level approaches are a critical aspect of health improvement and that public health and clinical care can be powerful and complementary allies.

After graduating with her Master of Public Health in maternal and child health, she has worked as a public health analyst focusing her research on health coverage and care for vulnerable populations. When she decided to pursue a career in nursing, Feinberg says she chose to advance her career at DUSON as “it’s an environment of blended intellectual excellence, nursing innovation and genuine support for respect and diversity.”

“I’m excited to be joining a community of engaged, curious and creative students from across the university and I’m eager to find opportunities for collaboration,” says Feinberg. “I am committed to using this opportunity to broaden my horizons, challenge my perceptions, plant the seeds for future research and grow into a thoughtful and innovative provider.”

Feinberg says her scholarship provides incredible financial support and access to a diverse, multidisciplinary community. She adds that health is a mosaic of many factors, and as a future provider, she wants to be able to think competently and creatively about the social, ecological, economic and political contexts that shape her patients’ health status.

Feinberg will join DUSON in August 2019 and will graduate in December 2020.
